Galas

NASCH swimming galas are held regionally and nationally. We have a regional one in Chester in September. The NASCH national event in Leamington Spa occurs in November. The Regional winners of Gold medals will go to the National finals to meet medal winners from the 10 other regions. This is a very enjoyable day with plenty of close finishes and hard fought races.

We also have a special gala of our own, held in November, and in memory of Tony Howley, former chairman of the club and senior swimming coach, who passed away in 2008. The ‘Tony Howley Cup’ is awarded to the person who has attended regularly and who has made good progress with their swimming throughout the year.

Woodlarks Camp

In late spring some swimmers and helpers go for a week’s stay at the Woodlarks camp in Surrey. Although not related to Chester Terrapins, many of our members go as well as those from other swimming clubs like ours, and the camp has been specially adapted for people with disabilities.

Christmas Party

Each year we all have a fantastic time at the Christmas party. The night consists of a disco, a raffle, a buffet and each person receives a present from Santa.

Circus Starr

We are invited top go to this very enjoyable event by Circus Starr in September each year, which is a circus especially catering for learning disabilities. They are very sympathetic to needs of disabled children and adults. It’s always a great evenings entertainment with clowns, acrobats, jugglers and tumblers.
